Special Issue information:
The 34th European Symposium of Applied Thermodynamics (ESAT 2026) will be held from 10-13 May 2026 in Lisbon (Portugal). This special issue of Fluid Phase Equilibria invites novel contributions that highlight fundamental methods in applied thermodynamics and demonstrate their impact on real-world applications. We welcome submissions that advance or apply approaches such as equations of state, experimental analysis, molecular modelling and simulation, quantum thermodynamics, and statistical thermodynamics and multiscale modelling, as well as machine learning and data-driven techniques.
Research may focus on a wide range of systems and materials, including fluids, supercritical fluids, electrolytes, ionic liquids, eutectic solvents, polymers, and complex materials. Applications of interest span absorption and adsorption, batteries and electrochemical systems, bio-inspired products and processes, biomolecules and biomaterials, pharmaceutical systems and processes, carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS), decarbonisation strategies, direct air capture (DAC), distillation, extraction, gas storage, hydrogen, ammonia, and liquid organic hydrogen carriers (LOHC). We also encourage studies on interfaces, membranes, novel fuels such as e-fuels and biofuels, low-GWP refrigerants, innovative separation technologies, renewable energy systems, and sustainability-driven processes.
In addition to fundamental and applied research, we welcome collaborative works between industry and academia or results from European projects.
Manuscript submission information:
Manuscripts invited are only open to conference participants and will be peer reviewed to the usual Fluid Phase Equilibria standard. If you are interested in writing an article that is a comprehensive review of a topic relevant to Fluid Phase Equilibria, please contact the Guest Editors before proceeding.
